The garage is a base for your truck and a driver. You need place for a truck before you buy it (the same with a driver). When you start your game you have the smallest garage (located in a selected city).
Its default value (1.0) corresponds to working point at 0.65 (the spring compresses to 65 percent of its length when we put the cabin weight on it). Lower values of the cvar means lower working point, and thus softer springs (g_cabin_suspension_stiffness 0.0 puts the working point at 0.5). When you drive on TruckersMP and with friends, it helps to get jobs that go to the same destinations so you can all continue to drive together while progressing.
