You have to start moving with the car then you can switch it off. This is my experience with DSG. Mine's manual - it might work a bit differently. I turn the ignition on, press the 'cancel S/S' button, its light comes on (and stays on) and there is no S/S till I next turn the ignition on. 651.
However, once the parking brake is on, if I then press the start-stop button to turn it off manually, and then on again straight away, the engine then stops! I've not been keeping detailed notes, but I think once after the engine turned back on, then about 5 seconds later it went off again, but honestly I'm not totally sure.

It isn't just the power consumed from the starter motor on the stop / start - don't forget all your other ancillaries are still running (dashboard / lights / wipers / blowers etc etc) - These will easily add up to as much as it takes to start the engine over say 20-30 seconds of use.
This mean that you can turn ON/OFF the AC just pressing it regarding of the fan speed you have. In contary the Skoda one does not say nothing and is inoperative. You cant press it and you need to turn on and off the CLIMATRONIC turning the fan speed control. Well its look like the feature is hidden on the Skoda Control.
