Get the handlebars out of the way, compress and remove the circlips. Remove the spring, insert the intiminator, replace the spring. You don't HAVE to remove the oil, but that is drain and refill by the manual. I use a piece of schedule 40 and a ratcheting strap to compress the spring and do it solo. #3. I'm on the road and changing the oil on my wife's 2011 F650GS. I cannot find her handbook and I do not know the oil capacity with a new filter install as well. Have not been able to find it online, so please help.
Fork oil level vs. volume. Doing a number of tinkering tasks today that involved removing wheels to get new tires, and installing new front pads from Hitchcocks. While at it, thought I would change the fork oil to a lower viscosity in attempt to 'soften' the front end. Service manual calls for 430 ml/14.54 oz oil per fork tube.
